CHCCS uses a framework called MTSS, which stands for Multi-Tiered System of Support. This is a proactive approach used to ensure every student (not just those with an IEP or 504) gets the exact academic, behavioral, and emotional support they need to succeed. This presentation will dive into MTSS and how it may or may not intersect with EC Services. Nicole Walker, Director of MTSS and Academic Programing will give an informative presentation (which will be recorded) followed by a Q&A session (not recorded).

SNAC hosted an evening roundtable with Laurie Williamson, System of Care Coordinator for Orange County and Ruth Thompson, Community Education Specialist with Alliance Health (Orange County's Managed Care Organization for Medicaid). Navigating the Medicaid landscape can be a very daunting and confusing process. This meeting will give you an opportunity to learn about how to access Medicaid and i1915 waiver services, discover resources available in Orange County, and discuss which resources might best support your family.

For the first time ever, SNAC hosted a "Mock IEP Meeting" offering SNAC families the opportunity to learn everything they could ever want to know about IEP and 504 meetings — what they are, how they work, what the objectives are, what your rights are as a parent, who can attend, how to best achieve your educational objectives for the child, etc. We presented this information in the form of a live walkthrough of a fictional IEP meeting, so you get to "experience" what an IEP meeting looks and sounds like as an outside observer, with additional "director's commentary" sprinkled throughout the event to explain what is happening throughout the process. Joining us is guest IEP/504 expert and parent mentor, Johanna Lynch, along with actual teachers, EC specialists, and school adminstrators from the CHCCS district.

Executive function skills include time management, organization, task initiation, planning and perseverance and each plays a role in helping kids learn to manage their school experience with confidence.
